Rack Tidy

Network racks can often get out of hand pretty quickly. For this customer it took about 2 years and they ended up with this spaghetti. By carefully mapping every cable we were able to strip the rack entirely, remove a bunch of old UPSes, Modem, and switches, and repatch everything with an accurate map. Power was cut to the rack and it was found that the fibre NTU was plugged into mains and would have failed during an outage. All other devices were verified to be on the UPS and the rack was closed up. We also moved them from a flat network to one with VLANs for Voice, Data, Server Admin, and Printers to increase security and assist with their move to VOIP handsets. A tidy rack looks much nicer.
